Measuring Instructions
determining hanging rail dimension, take into consideration that your cover will need to swing from rail a full 90 degrees to 'Open Position' without any obstruction in travel area (such as light fixture or picture on wall). See illustrations 2 and 3 below.
can easily be adapted to any opening in ceiling or wall effectively if you have a surrounding flat surface with a minimum of 1-3/8" around opening to be covered.* (1-3/8" is the flat flange area it takes to compress both vinyl seals that are splinned to the cover flange. It takes a minimum of 1" to compress the first vinyl seal from the outside flange edge of insulating cover.)
and facing to ceiling can help accomplish this. Most effective installation of cover will be accomplished by measuring inner opening edges of facing and adding 4" to these dimensions to get cover size. This allows cover to be attached directly to wood facing, gives a 2" flat surface for cover to seal to and lets the screws for attaching hanging-rail and locks be far enough from wood edge so as not to split wood facing.
